Set your personal preferences
Preferences are the personal settings every user controls for themselves — your profile information, how the interface looks for you, what Atender does after you mark a conversation as done, and which workspace opens at sign-in. None of these settings affect your teammates.
Open the screen
Click Settings → Preferences. It’s under the Personal section of the Settings sidebar and doesn’t require any tenant-level permission — every user can open and change their own preferences.
Personal Details
Three fields:
- Full Name — your real name, used in audit logs and team management views
- Email Address — the address tied to your account (changing this affects sign-in and notifications)
- Display Name — the name customers and teammates see in conversations. Often the same as Full Name, but you can use a shorter version (Erik instead of Erik Windahl Olsen) if you prefer
After editing, click Save Changes at the top of the page.
Appearance
Two toggles:
- Colored tab icons — when on, the conversation status tabs (Active, Snoozed, Done, Archived) show in their natural colors. When off, they’re a uniform gray. Off is the default; some users find it less visually noisy.
- Colored sidebar icons — when on, the navigation sidebar icons are color-tinted. When off, they’re gray. Off is the default.
Appearance toggles save instantly — no need to click Save Changes.
Workflow Settings
After marking as done controls what happens to your view when you finish a conversation:
- Stay in conversation — the conversation you just closed stays open. Default.
- Go to conversation list — Atender takes you back to the inbox list.
- Next conversation — Atender opens the next conversation in your current list, following the filters and sort order you have applied.
If you handle conversations one after another like a queue, Next conversation speeds you up. If you often look back at what you just closed (to add a tag, write a snippet, etc.), Stay in conversation is the right choice.
The selection saves instantly.
Default Workspace
If you belong to more than one Atender workspace (most users don’t), this is where you pick which one opens when you sign in. Single-workspace users can ignore this section.
What about language?
Your interface language is a separate section in the Settings sidebar (Settings → Language). It used to live here historically but was split out so it’s easier to find. Change your interface language there.
Troubleshooting
-
Symptom: Save Changes is disabled. Fix: The button stays disabled until your user data has loaded and you’ve made an edit. Wait a moment, then try editing a field.
-
Symptom: I changed my display name but customers still see the old one. Fix: Conversations rendered before the change keep the old name in their history. New replies you send after the change will use the new display name.
-
Symptom: “After marking as done” is set to Next conversation but it took me somewhere unexpected. Fix: Next conversation follows your active filters and sort order in the inbox. If you’ve narrowed to a specific team or tag, the “next” is the next match within that filter. Clear filters to use a global next.
